Bahasa Malaysia (Malay Language) is the local language of Malaysia and is also widely spoken in Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore.

Malay is an easier language to study than English, French or Mandarin. You may need to spend 300 hours before you can use any of the latter in a simple conversation, while for Malay, you can just spend 100 hours studying before you are able to do so. This is because Malay does not use past or past participle verbs.

This course is meant for individuals who do not speak Malay and are interested in obtaining the necessary language skills for everyday communication. The course teaches students basic vocabulary needed to carry out structured and complete conversations. Each unit being introduced is selected and processed to meet the daily needs of students in conversations. At the same time, the students are exposed to specific techniques to ensure that they understand the proper structure of sentences.

The Mandarin course provides an opportunity for the students to acquire better speaking skills in Mandarin with the emphasis on natural, colloquial usage.

It is designed to develop and reinforce language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing as it relates to everyday life situations. New vocabulary and idiomatic phrases will be emphasized and the student will hold conversations in Mandarin during each class.

The objectives are to master the Mandarin phonetic system (pinyin and tones) with satisfactory pronunciation and to understand the construction of commonly used Chinese Characters (both simplified and traditional).

The students will also be able to understand and use correctly basic Chinese grammar and sentence structures and build up essential vocabulary.
